Our creative curriculum
Here at Newton Regis CofE Primary School we follow the National Curriculum (2014) through Cornestones which explores the breadth and depth of the National Curriculum, develops a rich and deep subject knowledge, develops new skills through a variety of interesting contexts and allows children to develop self esteem and confidence in their abilities. The goal of our curriculum is to deepen the children's understanding and engagement in learning through our thematic termly topics. Enrichment permeates through our curriculum and is available to all pupils through the use of 'Wow immersion days', visits, visitors, good curricular links and out of school activities. Children love to end their topics with 'Celebration' events where parents, families and friends are invited to come and find out about the learning that has taken place. Ofsted 2019 highlighted "The curriculum is vibrant. It is enriched with a wide range of first-hand, learning experiences through visits and visitors. For example, when studying the book, ‘Owl Babies’, a visit from a local falconry expert allowed pupils to experience for themselves young owls in their school. The older pupils found their visits to the National Memorial Arboretum and The Staffordshire Regiment Museum enhanced their learning about World War II"
